Nehemiah 4:1-4
1When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?”
3Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!”
4Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders.
Today we pray that the Lord will turn every charge of the enemy back on his own head. There may be times when people have ridiculed our efforts to build our lives or put things together for ourselves. Not everyone may be pleased with the effort we are making. People may call your efforts feeble and may speak discouraging words to you. You may have been told that you are not good enough, and that what you have built will not last. But do not buy into it. Sometimes we are reminded of the “ashes and burnt stone” from past failures, so that we are deterred from trying again. Today we pray the prayer in Nehemiah 4: 4. Father, return those negative words back to the enemy.
We reverse every negative word spoken against us in the name of Jesus. We ask the Lord to bless our effort and vindicate us. We do not succumb to the enemy’s ridicule, discouragement and scorn.
Nehemiah 4:1-4When Sanballat and Tobiah heard that the gaps were being closed they were angry. The gaps are holes through which the enemy can attack or enter into our lives. Disease, unexpected expenditure, a constantly sick child, etc., can be used as a windows through which the enemy come to cause trouble. We plead the blood of Jesus upon us and everything attached to us. We ask the Lord to plug every gap and hole in our “walls”. We ask that the Lord will open our eyes to see all “gaps in our walls” so that we can deal with it. The Lord will bless our efforts if we build with all our hearts.
