The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever. Genesis 13: 14 -15

This was the uplifting message from the Lord to Abraham after Lot had apparently picked the better part of land and parted with him. Abraham was assured of inheriting all the land he sees. In other words, his inheritance was inexplicably tied to his vision. You can only receive what you can see/perceive in the invisible realm. Where there is no vision people perish (Proverbs 29:18). This inescapable principle of success was demonstrated throughout the bible. Moses sent the twelve to the spy (see) the Promised Land so that they could inherit it. Though Joshua had seen the land, he sent two men from the new generation to spy the land so that he could inherit the Promised Land. Vision is the link between the promise and inheritance.

In Genesis 15, God took Abraham outside (his tent) and commanded him to look up and count the stars. God then said to Abraham “so shall you descendants be”. Like Abraham, we also need to look up and dream big about the incoming year. To have the right vision, you need to let go of your Lot which may be past unpleasant experiences, unhealthy relationships, unproductive habits and human limitations (grasshopper mentality). God gets our undivided attention when we part with Lot and look up to him. Spend time in the secret place of the Lord so that He can reveal his great plans to you.

We need “God sized” visions which set us up for the manifestation of His supernatural power in our lives. God cannot fit himself in small human dreams. We are alive today because the (God’s) promise of today far exceed the experiences of the past. There may be giants in the land but let’s agree with Joshua and Caleb and bodily declare that

“The land is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.” (Numbers 14:8)

Father, open the eyes of our understanding to the innumerable riches in Christ and grant us the grace to go up and possess the land, for we are well able to do it.
