………..and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David (I Sam 16:13)
Samuel anointed David by pouring oil on him in the presence of his brothers in line with God’s time tested principle of taking His children from the back of the pack to the front. This physical demonstration was followed by a powerful anointing of the Holy Ghost which transformed him from just a shepherd boy to great king. This spiritual (unseen) experience was undoubtedly more important than the physical demonstration because it endowed David with all the requisite capabilities of a great king. In contrast, when the Spirit of the Lord left Saul he was then troubled by a distressing spirit which could only be overpowered by music from a Holy Ghost filled person. Below is the search report (by the servants of Saul) about David after Spirit came upon him.
……..“Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.” (1 Samuel 16:18)
The anointing and fullness of the Holy Ghost made David the most skillful music player in his time, and the same Holy Ghost can make you the most skillful person in your profession or vocation. The anointing of the Spirit that made David a mighty man of valor and a man of war before he entered his first battlefield, can endowe you with all the strength and abilities you need to conquer every enemy in the coming year. The anointing of the Spirit which made David prudent in speech, will make you eloquent and ensure that you do not stumble in words from now onwards. The Spirit can make you beautiful or handsome and attractive, as it did for David. The same Spirt that opened doors for David and caused him to find favor (with Saul) will open uncommon doors of favor for you in the coming days if you allow him to fill you. Distressing and unforeseen spirits will also flee from your presence (as in the case of David) in the coming days because of the Holy Ghost in you.
The fullness of the Holy Spirit which is interpreted as “and the Lord is with him” is a guarantee of success in the days ahead. David continued to succeed in everything he did, for the LORD was with him (I Samuel 18: 14). The Holy Ghost has always been the indispensable force in the universe. He had to move over the waters before the Father could call the world into existence. There is a guarantee of success on your life because of the Holy Ghost in you.
Fill me Holy Ghost (Ephesians 5:18). I want more of you!
Amen and Amen!
