“As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.”
Romans 4:17 NIV
“Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind. Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Laundererʼs Field. Say to him, ‘Be careful, keep calm and donʼt be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah. Aram, Ephraim and Remaliahʼs son have plotted your ruin, saying, “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.” Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘It will not take place, it will not happen,
The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliahʼs son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.’ ” Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.” But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.”
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:2-7, 9-12, 14 NIV
Today we thank our God who has declared that the plans of our enemies will not come to pass.
When certain winds of adversity blow our way, causing our hearts to flutter, let us remember to stand in faith. For the God we serve will not allow the plans of the devil to succeed.
The word of God to us this morning is “be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid”. Isaiah 7:4
The reason we can keep calm is that Immanuel is with us (Isaiah 7:14).
Today, we route out every attack of the enemy in the name of Jesus. We declare that the plans of the enemy will come to nought in Jesus’ name.
We stand in faith to take hold of what belongs to us in the name of Jesus. “For if we do not stand in faith, we will stand at all”. Isaiah 7:9
Father, let your blessings be released on us today as we put our faith in you. We thank you for the sign of Immanuel, which is the blood of Jesus, that causes every evil to pass over us. We love you Lord.
Today, call back to life every dead thing in our lives, cause rivers to flow in our deserts, and call things into being for us.
In the name of Jesus.
