“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We need all the attributes mentioned above in order to appropriate the blessings and promises of God in our lives. We become ineffective as people of God when we lack self-control and discipline, and when we lack the knowledge we need to handle the affairs of life. Today, we pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us in these areas and bless us abundantly with increasing faith, kindness, knowledge, godliness, self-control, perseverance, and love. We pray that the knowledge of God will be effective in our lives and beneficial to us, in the name of Jesus.
